Great Expectations - Palin v Biden
Much has been said about Palin’s inability to lead or even answer a question coherently. Katie Courics interview with the Governor have been a total disaster for McCain campaign. Yet while the slip ups have raised questions about the Alaska governor’s readiness for national office and has increased the pressure on her to perform in her sole joint appearance with Biden, they also sent already low expectations plunging even lower than stocks on Wall Street. That is not a bad thing for Palin.
My gut instinct is that she will do a good job tonight. She is well prepared and is very combative in debates. In her gubernatorial race for Governor of Alaska she gave stellar performances, I believe tonight she will do just that and get some direct hard hits on Obama. I would not be surprised if tomorrows headlines scream ‘ Palin comes out Swinging’ ‘ Palin back on track’ ‘ Round 1 to Palin’ Its not that I think Biden will do poorly he will be fine but he needs to be very contained in what he says and that will limit his ability to get hard hits on her. The expectations for Palin are below ground zero, she will be judged on her ability to answers questions somewhat coherently and that she can do.
A debate is different than a interview. They are more formal and predictable. The press loves a comeback kid.
The only thing that may alter Palins potentially good performance is the role of the moderator Gwen Ifill of PBS. She is the author of a coming book, “The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.” Republicans have raised question of her authenticity and objective abilities considering she has written a book complementing the role of Obama in national politics. They are right too and she should never have been selected in the first place. l
Ifill is an excellent journalist and a tough cookie and ordinarily she would pose hard-hitting questions that would break Palin in half but because of her perceived bias she will need to thread very lightly with Palin and throw soft balls. This is a shame because usually Ifill makes Katie Couric look like Julie Andrews. If Ifill is tough on her, Palin will crack but the Republican spin machine will claim she was totally bias and Palin was a victim of the liberal media. This in turn can justify her no longer doing interviews with the ‘liberal’ papers. Either way its going to be near impossible for Biden to win tonight.
The only way he will win is if the moderator asks a simple question and Palin cant answer it.
But tonight is about the independents -88% of the country has made up its mind its all about that 12%. They also want change like everyone else but which type will appeal to them? The self described Maverick Reformers who between them have 30 years in Wasington or the Change and Clean Up DC Reformers who have eh have 30 years
p.s
Key words for tonight to watch for ........
‘Reign in spending’ ‘Maverick’ ‘Reform/ Change’ ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ ‘Surge’ ‘ Taxes’

I am suspending my blogs due to the economic crisis
Okay so that was my thinking on Monday but now that John McCain is on the case, I am once again able to turn my attention back to blogging, secure in the knowledge things will work out fine.
John McCain has the foresight and skills we need to fix this crisis. Plus McCain is no longer distracted by such weighty issues as dealing “with lipstick on pigs”, on hiding Sarah Palin from the press, or on highlighting Barack Obamas plan to teach sex education to 4 year olds. Now he has the time to focus on the economy. My friends John Mc Cain knows Washington, and not just because he has 3 homes and lived there for 30 years, but because he has an array of relevant delicious sound bites. “I’ll veto any bill” “pork barrel spending ” “shake up Washington” “clean up Washington” “my friends” "Ill make the waisters of tax payer money famous"or my favorite “now is not the time for partisan politics” (that comes tomorrow when I accuse Barack Obama of teaching lesbian witchcraft to poor baby orphans)
Okay the nay sayers may say 'well he doesn’t sit on any relevant financial committee' or 'he doesn’t really have any of the economic experience necessary at this point in time' But does any of this that really matter? this is John Mc Cain my friends, the maverick, he’ll veto anything with his pen. Even though the finest economists on both sides of the political divide are already working together on this, John Mc Cain must go to Washington. He has to cleazn up 'the mess' he has to be there sandwiched between George Bush and Harry Reid when a deal is struck on the bail out. He must be there for a variety of important political reasons and not only because he needs to be as far away from Friday night’s debate in Mississippi, as many unpatriotic liberal american media hacks might suggest.
In a time of crisis the American people don’t need words they need empty gestures, clever soundbites and photo ops.
For those of you worried about the Campaign without McCain I say to you- dont worry. The reign is handed over to our beloved hockey mom, Sarah Palin (Did I mention she is an American patriot and a hockey mom?) Governor Palin is more than prepared to hold town meetings with unscreened audiences; she can host press conferences in the Fox Network studios and surely answer any questions Bill O Reilly may have. Butperhaps Sarah inalso needed in DC what with her expertise on economics and foreign policy. Her eye for details on fiscal prudence and her depth of knowledge on all issues from where her running mate stands on insurance relief to the bush doctrine.
So when the House Financial Services Committee are discussing the skyrocketing rates of mortgages or the impact of the Home Owners Loan Corporation Palin can interrupt with an important insight into the issues by stating she is from Alaska and is here to clean up the good Old Boys Network. That’s great Sarah but can you say more with consideration to the 700 billion bail out how do think that may sit with ordinary Americans? “well oridinary moms in Alaska are soooo excited, they'll be putting on their lipstick and getting ready for the big hockey game"
So say what you will about McCain my friends he is a man who fights on the issues, who fights fair and doesn’t go for cheap political stunts and shocking opportunistic gimmicks.

The Importance of Being Kerry-Dukakis
For all the talk of newness, change and history-making, haven't we seen this presidential race before?
The Democrats hierarchy is once again perceived by
During the Primary battle the Democrats had a clear position on vitally important issues of the day-Tax, Abortion, and
In March 08 it was clear –the Democrats stood for raising taxes on those relatively few persons with extreme high incomes. After all, these wealthy elite reaped inordinate personal benefits from the across-the-board. Now Obama says he may not immediately let those high-income tax cuts expire, owing to the troubled economy and all. The Democrats message on tax becomes blurred. A Michael Dukakis turkey sandwich anyone?
During the entire Democratic primary battle the one thing the Democrats stood for was ending was the war in
During the Democrat primary one thing Democrats stood for over everything social issue-- or so we thought -- was a well-articulated position to protect a woman's right to choose abortion. So now Obama says the morality of the abortion issue is "above my pay grade." Once again the message is not only amazingly blurred but subordinated. He doesnt want to touch it.
Why oh why Obama doesn’t proclaim the lines of a winning Democrat nominee ‘Rare, Safe and Legal’ I guess we will never know.
That is the only the beginning of Obamas problems, his message of hope and change was severely dented by his VP pick of Joe Biden. Biden, an admirable and respectable politician with tons of experience is not the sort of attack dog you need in a VP pick. He is a nice guy but nice guys do not make good attack dogs, ask Sarah Palin.
Likewise, John Kerry picked a lame duck VP in John Edwards, a man who failed to make an impression on anyone outside of
McCain is in the lead because of one horrible decision by the Obama team and one huge gamble by the McCain team. Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. Obamas choice was predicated on weakness.
He was chosen for his foreign policy expertise, but the big problem is that the pick was an admission of weakness by Obama. He was telling the
Then by picking a woman with executive experience, but no foreign policy experience, he laid a trap for the Democrats. McCain knew that the Dems would attack her on foreign policy experience, but every time a voter reads one of those attacks they are reminded that Obama also has no experience.
McCain gets to enjoy a week’s long debate on whether Palin or Obama are weaker on foreign policy. Sure the Republicans are weak on foreign policy on the bottom of their ticket, but the Democrats are more at the top of their ticket.
The true genius of the Sarah Palin pick, for now was her inexperience. The whole Sarah Palin frenzy can still dissapear rather quickly and be turned to a disadvantage but thats depends on how Obama conducts the last 2 months fo this race.
In order to turn things around Obama has to attack John McCain and not Sarah Palin. He must leave the attacking of Sarah Palin to surrogates. He must change his line of attack on John McCain from ‘4 more years of the same’. McCain has convinced
Obama must promote why 'his' change is what the country needs, what his big ideas are for the country and why McCain’s voting record in

Bipolar Media and Presidential Politics
'A Breathtakingly Reckless VP Choice'! screamed the Indianapolis Star, 'This Rooky is Not Ready for Big League' declared the Detroit News, 'Palins Not Ready' said the Washington Post. A more frantic New York Times Editorial page belted out 'What the heck is McCain up too'! and CNN blasted McCains decision as 'One Cast 'Out of His Mind'
The Media was in a state of frenzy......panic, terror, awful, end of world, scandal, teenage daughter, morals, handicapped baby, its all over, double standards
After a few days the media took time to breath and after a 28 minute speech from Sarah Palin on Wednesday evening last, they scrambled back to their computers to write a different story.....
'Sarah Palin, the Natural'!!- smirks the Weekly Standard, 'Sarah Palin's Perfect Premiere' - declares the New York Daily News, 'Palin's TV Appeal Will Change Campaign and Politics FOREVER' screams 'Fox News - the home fair and balanced news reporting.
CNN got into the action 'Amazing Woman, Amazing Choice' -CNN, Joe Scarborough on MSNBC morning television declares with utter elation "she is the future of the Republican Party" His colleague Pat Buchanan goes one further ' we haven't see anyone like this since Ronald Regan" then finishes off his orgasm with the lines "we are looking at the next and first FEMALE President of the USA"
wonder, awesome, future, brilliant, genius, Regan, president, loving mother, handicapped baby, double standards.
It doesn't matter if you the person or news story is about a Democrat, Republican, Independent or Green the media is so fickle its enough to bring up your breakfast. It reminds me of a retarded dog that chases its tail around a room until it gets tired and then goes the other way, exhausting itself.
Immediately following any sensational event or moment in politics the media goes overboard, a day or two later takes a deep breath, three valium, and starts being a little more objective and less extreme, and thats only when they run of things to say on the topic.
Let's break it down -Sarah Palin gave a good speech, there were low expectations on her and she performed very well.
She gave a very strong performance to her base, conservative Republicans.
But did the 28 minute speech really make her the future of the Republican Party? Or will it really change politics 'FOREVER' as Fox, the home of fair and balanced reporting likes to inform us. Was her 28 minutes of talking the best thing since Ronald Regan? The media needs to take its medication on time, so when a story breaks they do not go OTT and then to the other extreme.
My guess is Palin has made herself a legend in the Republican Party and you can see why her approval rating in Alaska are very high with all voters not just republicans. Yet no polls thus far show she has had any effect increasing the female vote and no effect on the independents. In fact I would predict the more the public gets to know of her the more independents and conservative Democrats will not like. Her negative approach in the speech was jaw dropping and divisive. She reminded me of Tracey Flick in 'Election' who was on a one way track to destroying the opposition no matter what it took- all the while talking like a teenager angry at her bf for jilting her.
So right now we are to believe Governor Palin is the greatest star in the country, a Margaret Thatcher in the making and all she had to do was read a speech, of which 70% was written 5 weeks ago by George Bush's speechwriter and before a candidate was even selected. This is the reality. She gave a speech and no more thus far.
I'm sure by Wednesday next week we will have another sensational chapter in the election or scandal about something else, and surely enough the media will rush to sensationalize that story, reducing this one to the footnotes of history
Example
Monday - CNN reports 'Obama's daughter goes on a pony ride'
" elitist" shouts Fox News, " snob" " animal lover" cries the Weekly Standard " animal hater" screams the left wing bloggers " liberal and wreckless" screams the Washington Post. "Child could have fallen and been brain damaged"-reports Bill O Reilly
ABC Interviews various crying mothers with brain damaged children from pony induced traumas.
Sean Hannity interviews the pony in question who turns out to be a family values pony and claims Obama used him and hates American ponies.
Tuesday (with 3 valium)
"Doesn't everyone have a right to ride a pony?" queries the LA Times 'the pony loves it' says ABC 'Racist Media' screams the ......eh, media.
Obama goes on TV declaring he is adopting the pony and gives exclusive interview to CNN. "Obama to call the Pony 'Change' and its yet to be delivered offspring 'Hope' 'Si, Se Puede' and 'fluffy'
Wednesday...
Obama's daughter rode a pony! Who cares, what has this to do with our country, education, health care, forign policy, taxes, and student loans? reveals the media, finally.........
But before we get into those issues Democrat Joe Biden sneezes in church and its caught on camera Sunday evening
Monday
"slur" "liberal" "hater" Fox News special why liberal sneezers hate America" "Biden sneezed 20 years ago on a child" screams New York Post.
CNN gets interview with the child now in prison for arson - he blames Biden, liberals, and immigrants.
